 Week Two
Changed Tower Procedures for Archerfield

During the past week a NOTAM was issued on a procedural change for aircraft taxying on the airfield

Unless there is a requirement for an airways or IFR clearance there is now no need to talk to "Archer Ground" prior to taxi as was the case in the past

It is only necessary for VFR aircraft departing the 'field to obtain a take-off clearence direct with "Archer Tower" prior to line-up

This change in procedure cannot be considered "new"

About 35 years ago it was the "normal" thing to do - which only suggests that these forever changing "procedures" of today have now completed a full circle and returned to the "good old days" of light aircraft flying!

Some aviators are even suggesting that these continuing changes only bring about confusion in the flying scene
