 Week Three
Military Moving In
Service for Air Force Caribous

Hawker Pacific after closing their hangar back in May 1999 have now "re-opened" to service military aircraft

This now makes two hangar-workshop combinations to change from servicing light aircraft to military types - the ex-1980 Talair built Hangar (then Pacific Aviation) and now Hunter Aerospace who have been servicing military helicopters for some time now

News Desk Observation

How is it that the Military can come and disturb the peace and quite of Archerfield - but the same cannot be done with the light aircraft operating out of the nearby Amberley military aerodrome?

  • Light Aircraft are not welcomed there in any shape or form except for ...maybe ...an emergency situation!

In Other News - Visitors

During the past week there were the normal number of visitors however one aircraft arrival stood out from the rest

The Ayres LET 420 twin turbine - pressured - 19 seat commuter dropped in for a visit during it's demonstration tour around OZ

The News Desk was unable to obtain a photo of the 420 due to the short time the aircraft was on the 'Field however the most descriptive method of visualising this machine is to think of it as an "enlarged MU2"!

For those of you who are interested the only image this News Desk has on file of an MU2 is a early '80's shot at Archerfield viewing SW of the main terminal building with the MU2 in the background - click HERE to view
