Aussies Win Basic Instrument Rating For Private Pilots

In what it says is a first in the world AOPA Australia announced Tuesday that private pilots can now qualify for a basic instrument rating. The rating allows pilots to fly en route through clouds between a VMC departure point and a VMC destination

Tony Mitchell from AOPA Australia said "This rating is a quantum leap ahead of the UK rating and simply much better than the USA rating"
Having lobbied for the new rating for decades the organization is justifiably ecstatic
