OZ Flights to Sri Lanka Diverted

 July 25: 
Click to enlarge Sri Lankan Airlines flights from Australia were diverted to neighbouring India and to the Emirates as separatist rebels firing guns and mortars attacked Colombo's International Airport and an adjoining military air base in a pre dawn raid

Two Airbus A340s and an A330 passenger jets were destroyed with two others damaged along with another 10 military aircraft written off

A new aviation industry training centre is to be built near Brisbane Airport which is expected to train 200 aircraft maintenance apprentices, trainees and pre-vocational students next year increasing to an anticipated 1000 training places by the year 2005

It will also provide cabin crew, aerospace medicine, air traffic control, catering and maintenance training with the centre to be self-funding and in full private ownership within three years

Mooney Aircraft Corporation has been producing aircraft in Kerrville, Texas in continuous and uninterrupted production for more than 48 years

The company currently employs more than 220 skilled workers and has shipped more than 10,500 aircraft to all parts of the globe
