Click to enlarge The ground floor of the main terminal building at Archerfield was taken over by a movie company on Thursday as a scene set for the Proserpine airport based in the state's north

The low budget children's type movie is based on and around the cane fields of north Queensland and called "Cane Followers"

TU-154 A TU-154 airliner carrying 143 people crashed and burst into flames near the Siberian city of Irkutsk in the former USSR

The Cessna C172 then ran off the runway and tipped over after hitting a ditch

Renewed Attempt for Around the World Balloon Launch

Friday July 6

Click to enlarge Click to enlarge Adventurer Steve Fossett's balloon Solo Spirit has been repaired and with the launch window opening up again sometime around July 26, helium needed for the flight is now on its way from Singapore as the large quantity needed to stay aloft is not available here in OZ

The quick turn-a-round of the repaired balloon was due to the manufacturer in England sending three of their experts over to WA to repair the balloon on the spot

 

Launch is from Kalgoorlie in the south of Western Australia, the attempt to fly non-stop around the world in the Southern Hemisphere is expected to take up to 18 days
