Solo World Balloon Flight

June 17:
A solo around the world balloon attempt starting from Kalgoorlie in WA is now in the process of launch preparation with the launch time between 9 pm and midnight

Wind Gust Foils Launch

Wind ripped out tether lines attached to the gas cell of the balloon during inflation causing two large tears in the envelope

Click to enlarge During the past week a newly married woman lost her life along with the pilot when the 50's vintage Fouga Magister ex military jet training aircraft they were travelling in disintegrated after a low level high speed pass down the runway at an air show in Wisconsin USA

According to witness reports a large piece, possibly a wing, came off the aircraft after the low pass, it then pitched up and disintegrated "like raining confetti"
