Accident Waiting to Happen?

OZ Court hears accident aircraft "a disaster waiting to happen" from an "on condition" vacuum pump that failed at a critical time in IFR conditions with no backup system for flight instruments

Light aircraft vacuum pumps are an "on condition" item, the pump manufacturer nominates the time for replacement as "recommended", it is not a mandatory time-life critical component as backup basic instruments are mandatory for IFR flight

Aviation Historian Departure

Queensland Museum's Ted Wixted, aviation historian and author of various books on early Queensland fliers and famous OZ aviators including "Smithy", has departed on his last and never-ending journey to the stars

Ted was well known by Archerfield aviators for his dedication and interest in early aviation history and was the main instigator of a mini airshow on May 23 1981 to celebrate Archerfield's 50th Anniversary as an airfield
