Air China Boeing B767 Down with High Loss of Life

TV reports have a light aircraft plunging into the 25th floor of the Pirelli tower building in Milan Italy

The aircraft flown by a 67-year-old pilot, was a single engine Rockwell 112TC Commander en route from Locarno Switzerland

The 20-minute flight has left three people dead and about 40 injured from falling debris

Reports indicate the pilot issued a distress call and eye witnesses say they saw the aircraft burning before it hit the tallest building in downtown Milan

Media reports have 39 people surviving Air China's first crash in 47 years near Pusan in South Korea

The 1985 model Boeing 767-200 had 11 crew and 155 passengers on board and was en route from Beijing China

Stowaway Freezes to Death

 April 16 
Police at London's Heathrow Airport are trying to identify the body of a stowaway which was discovered in the wheel bay of a freight aircraft

The man, thought to be of African origin, is believed to have frozen to death

His body was discovered by maintenance crews after the DAS Cargo flight arrived at Heathrow from Africa

Aero Club Old Boys Reunion

 April 19 
On Tuesday 23rd the Aero Club at Archerfield will play host to past and present "Old Boy" club members and partners at an informal luncheon

The Club is now offering to non-members(must have a long term interest in aviation) the opportunity to join the next aviation function get together in a few months

MU-2 'Widow Maker' Claims 2

 April 16 
A 1969 USA registered MU-2 aircraft has crashed into a motor car dealership near San Juan in Puerto Rico with the loss of 2 lives

The aircraft was enroute from St Croix in the US Virgin Islands when it crashed killing the pilot and a car-dealer worker on the ground

The tag "Widow Maker" became attached to this type of aircraft in the '80's after a number of accidents were recorded by MU-2's overseas and here in OZ
