Archerfield aircraft sales representative for Cirrus, Steve Maltby, made the local Ch-9 TV news along with an owner taking delivery of her new Cirrus SR20 machine

Special mention was made, and good footage shown, of the Cirrus emergency parachute and deployment system

"Miss America" Engine Failure

 September 16 
USA's most famous racing aircraft - a veteran of more than 25 years of air racing - the P-51D Mustang "Miss America" is reported as having a major engine failure during qualifying at the 39th Reno air race


The aircraft dead-sticked off the runway sustaining moderate but repairable damage - P-51D Dago Red won the Gold (again)

QLD TAFE has on offer a "Diploma of Applied Science (Aviation)" for those persons wishing to further their aviation based career

The Wide Bay TAFE has joined up with the Royal Queensland Aero Club to offer the full time course which, they say, will guarantee articulation into the Queensland University of Technology "Batchelor of Applied Science"

As mentioned in these News Pages previously, aviation education is keeping the flying schools open after the "exodus" of private pilots from the industry in the '80's
