SBS Program INSIGHT on OZ TV reported on serious allegations made against the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) and the Australian Transport Safety Bureau (ATSB) over a number of issues

There were interviews with respected (ex) light aircraft operators - all who claimed the same thing - that the authorities were not really interested in safety and were "vindictive" to the extreme

OZ B727 Freighter Co goes Bust

 July 19 
Trans Australian Air - with the headquarters at Sanctuary Cove in Queensland and one of Australia's biggest air couriers - has gone bust

The company operated a number of Boeing 727 freighters from Tullamarine airport for charter throughout Australasia - Pacific Islands and S.E. Asia has been placed in the hands of administrators

Two by Two Down Uninjured

 July 15 
A pilot escaped injury after his aircraft made a crash-landing at Bankstown Airport

"..the two-seater plane had problems with its undercarriage and landed short of the runway just after 1:00pm"

Two men survived a light plane crash in the southern Blue Mountains

"..the two seater crashed at Bindook near Mount Colong but they were able to walk from the wreckage of the plane to a nearby farmhouse to raise the alarm"

12 USA Tourists Lost in Kenya

 July 21 
12 tourists from the USA and 2 local crew members were killed when the aircraft they were in hit Mount Kenya after apparently entering cloud near the mountain

"..eyewitnesses had reported seeing the plane deviate from the normal air route to Samburu and fly close to Lenana peak - probably for a better view - but instead crashed into it.."
