OZ Air Controllers Lack Education

April 16
Dick Smith named Airservices management as "basically criminal" in a comment to the media over an incident near Maleny last week where a Virgin passenger jet was allowed to descend to within 130m of a light aircraft

Quoting from the news report:- "..the new rules could do nothing to prevent both aircraft closing to 130m because light aircraft sharing commercial airspace no longer came under their control"

It's understood the controllers still had communication with the passenger jet - the light aircraft passed under the jet with more than the VFR required minimums

Controllers blamed the situation on "untrained pilots" - the News Desk considers it to be untrained controllers
