The RAAF have finally decided to phase out their British Aerospace fleet of 5 HS748 aircraft and are offering them for purchase by public tender

Delivered in 1969 - the twin turbo-prop aircraft were used for pilot training and VIP transport

HS748 Down in Libreville Africa

June 9
Media reports have a Gabon Express operated British Aerospace HS748 plunging into the sea about 100m off the coast after it had just departed from the Libreville airport in Gabon on the west African coast

The aircraft with about 30 passengers on board was heading for Franceville around 500km to the SE

"Part of the plane's landing gear fell off and landed on the beach" - 6 people were rescued

In the USA a Small 'Heavy' Runs Off the Runway on Landing

The OZ news media ran a story about a Chautauqua Airlines Embraer ERJ-135 running off the runway after arriving at Dallas/Fort Worth causing the airport to close for 5 minutes while the emergency situation response teams were activated

When the airport reopened a short time later runway 13R/31L remained unserviceable until the Embraer was "towed out of the mud"

A small number of the 38 passengers on board the fully laden aircraft were treated for minor injuries
