NAS Flight in Visual Conditions for Non-IFR Pilots (VFR) Duped by OZ Government

CASA have mailed out Airservices changes to airspace procedures due on November 25 including IFR navigation chart considered by many in general aviation to be useless for VFR pilots to interpret

Dick Smith wanted Airservices to retain his NAS model as "Leading aviation countries such as the USA, Canada, all of Europe and the UK provide a very effective radar service to IFR aircraft without the controller having to be in communication with the VFR aircraft"

November 4 
Air Safety (Boyd Munro) has stirred up the media on the Government breaking an election promise on the future of VFR flying in OZ
 
Boyd said Mr Anderson had walked away from commitments he made during the election campaign "He promised a number of things" including "Simplified procedures and greater freedom of movement for visual flight rules aircraft and what we find is that effective the 25th of November there's going to be very much more complex procedures than those we've had in the past"

A Military Chopper crew has been stood down for 'misbehaving badly' during the recent air show segment at the Gold Coast Indy car race
 
One crew member was displaying a sign that some of the female species considered offensive as the chopper passed the Gold Coast High-rise buildings
 
The debate rages as to whether the sign refers to the female anatomy or Terrorist Information Training School - you be the Judge

It's an old saying amongst GA pilots that if you fly a retractable u/carriage aircraft somewhere, sometime, something will fail or malfunction (the hav's or going-to) (including 'the finger' - flap up wanted - U/C switch selected - not suggesting this happened ...but ..Ed)
 
Nose-wheel collapse on the Archerfield based Eagle Flying Club's Piper Arrow shuts down Runway 28R for a short period - there were no injuries despite 2 Fire-Trucks, one Ambulance and 2 Police vehicles attending the scene

A Qantas 737 jet with more than 100 passengers on board used all of the Mt Isa runway in an emergency landing after an apparent brake failure
 
The captain informed the passengers that -
 
"...the plane's braking system had failed and that he planned to circle the airport to enable him to dump fuel before attempting to land"
 
Media coverage of the incident indicated only one Fire-Truck in attendance
