OZ Citation Jet Impounded by PNG
LOST - One B747 Jet Engine

October 22
The QLD based Tasman Australia Airlines Cessna Citation jet remains impounded by PNG's Civil Aviation Authority at a disused Aropa airstrip in Buka near the defunct Panguna copper mine in Bougainville

The corporate jet made an unauthorised landing at the airport more than 3 weeks ago and PNG authorities are holding the aircraft "for evidence"

Attempts to have the aircraft released and return to OZ have failed in the PNG courts

A Kalitta Air B747 Freighter on a night run from Chicago's O'Hare International Airport to New York lost one of it's 4 engines shortly after departure over Lake Michigan in the USA

The captain of the heavy radioed air controllers about a mechanical problem with the number one engine

It was soon realised by all concerned that the jet had not suffered the normal engine failure but had one of the 4 engines missing from it's normal position on the left wing
