New OZ Airspace Model Sabotaged by Self-Interest Parties
NAS Airspace Reform Forced Back to Pre-November 2003 Status

Airservices Rehash the OZ Airspace yet Again - NAS Reform Model Sabotaged

September 7
The OZ Airline Pilots Federation and Air Controllers Union openly object to the new reform changes to the airspace that were due to be implemented and want to return to the previous discriminatory system by promoting the scare tactic and propaganda motto of "put the safety of the travelling public first"

This "old" system did not consider the safety of private light aircraft operating under Visual Flight Rules, other than directing them to remain clear of controlled airspace (airports) while other IFR traffic were in proximity

The problem of "sharing" controlled airspace in OZ has been recorded in these pages previously - over the past 8 years to be a little more precise - start HERE to view Snoopy's "Dreamtime in Australia" first issued in 1996

Additional reading on the matter (The Australian) is HERE (pdf file) - Dick Smith's comments (via Dick's Flyer Page) HERE

The reform is not effective until November 25, 2004 - possible further changes before then

A new four-seat Robinson R44 helicopter crashed late Wednesday near Roma in QLD about 1.5km from Eurella Station airstrip

The station property close to Muckadilla alerted authorities when the R44 failed to return after last-light and was found early next morning just after commencement of the search

The very experienced helicopter pilot had taken the legendary station property owner - Brian Oxenford - for a fly in the new Robbo
