 Gympie Glider Accident Claims Life of Pilot's Sister in Joy-Flight
 South OZ has Cessna Retractable Belly-Landing During Take-Off

A Glider accident at Gympie has claimed the life of the passenger after the pilot overshot the runway during a landing attempt and finished up impacting the ground about 400m past the northern end of the runway
 
The experienced glider instructor-pilot survived and was transferred to the Nambour Hospital with leg injuries
 
It's understood by the News Desk that the Pilot and Passenger were Brother and Sister

Three POB a single-engine retractable U/C Cessna escaped injury after a reported downdraft caused the aircraft to belly-land while attempting a take-off at Warooka airport on South Oz's Yorke Peninsula
 
CASA's representative indicated the aircraft sustained serious damage during the emergency belly landing - "That does occur unfortunately from time to time"
 
"There's a number of reasons for belly landings - there can be a problem with the pilot not putting the undercarriage down at the right time or there could be mechanical problems"
