Aircraft Maintenance Workshops Around OZ Struggle to Meet Costs
Paint Shop at Archerfield Latest Victim of Decline in Flying Activity

The Archerfield paint shop "Flying Colours Aviation" operating out of Hangar 110 over the past few years has been "repossessed" by the airport owner/operator and doors locked after an apparent dispute over outstanding hangar rent

The News Desk understands that the locking of the hangar doors has created headaches for all concerned including the owners of at least 3 aircraft that were undergoing repainting at the time

It is expected the issue of aircraft parked in the hangar will be resolved - however the partly completed aircraft undergoing repainting is bound to have the "legal eagles" interested

News Desk research has found out that over the past 10 years some 500 maintenance workshops around OZ have closed their doors as flying activity continues to decline after reaching a peak 20/25 years ago

Chartered Piper Chieftain & 3 POB Lost in Victoria's High Country in Snow Storm

Geelong based RL Aviation's Piper Chieftain flown by the owner-operator of the charter company along with Gold Coast developer Brian Ray and his wife Kathy was reported "missing" after the Chieftain failed to report after landing at the amended destination of Mount Hotham in the Victorian snow fields after originally planning the flight from Essendon to Wangaratta

After an extensive ground and air search over 2 days that was hampered by bad weather - the PA-31 was located around 4 kilometres south-east of the airstrip after search air-crews spotted the tail section protruding out of the snow - "The tail was inverted - it looks like it has gone in upside down"

The pilot along with his 2 passengers were found to be deceased
