Pilot Flying Training Costs in OZ Twice as Expensive as in USA
High Cost Attributed to OZ Air Services Monopoly with "User Pays"

A recent study by x-CASA chairman Dick Smith has highlighted the fact that flying training in OZ is twice as costly for students compared to that of the USA

Dick claims it involves Airservices and their charges for tower services and has highlighted the difference between pilot training costs here in OZ compared to the USA - in this case Hawaii which has similar fuel costs and aircraft used for pilot training

12 months ago Airservices won an FAA contract for air traffic control services in the USA at about 50% of the cost of operating a similar tower here in OZ

You don't have to be a rocket scientist to work out it's the "value-added" cost of OZ air services that contribute to the higher price of flying training

The cost of flying into Archerfield to do some "shopping" for fuel, parts, service and/or aircraft accessories for the average small single-engine 4 seat aircraft is around $20.00 - 6 seaters cost up to $40.00 - twins even more
