A privately owned 2 seat Citabria airbatic aircraft crashed into a paddock shortly after take-off from a private airstrip near the Barossa Valley Gliding Club in South OZ
 
The owner-pilot of the aircraft was an experienced pilot and had been flying for "about 40 years"

The 63-year-old aircraft owner from Adelaide had on board as passenger a 17 year-old youth from McLaren Vale
 
The 2 persons on board did not survive the post-impact fire
