AT-802 Crop-Duster Accident Reported in OZ Media as Ultralight
 Air Tractor 802 Turbine - World's Largest Single-Engine Aircraft

December 10  2006
NSW Police have reported on a fatal night flying aircraft accident that occurred at Mungindi in the central west that claimed the life of the 45 year-old pilot

The report mentioned .."the pilot of the Air Tractor 802 crop duster was flying the in the Mungindi area when he allegedly lost control of the aircraft and crashed into nearby bushland"

News media reported this aircraft as an ultralight indicating a major lack of aviation knowledge (or common sense) with aircraft news reporting

News Desk Comment
The Air Tractor 802 is the largest single-engine aircraft operating in the world to-day and exceeds light aircraft specifications of 12,500 lbs (5670kg) max all-up-weight by over 3,500 lbs (1587 kg) - ultralights are generally well below 453 kg AUW

The OZ news media continue to distort reports for journalistic sensationalism - a quick check on the internet would show that the turbine-powered AT 802 is definitely NOT an ultralight!
