A 59 year-old Port Macquarie pilot was killed along with 3 PNG nationals after their chopper crashed into dense jungle 160 kms north of Port Moresby

At Roma a military Iroquois helicopter en-route from Oakey in QLD to Darwin in the NT made an emergency "controlled landing" just outside Roma near its departure - there were no injuries

New Pilot Training Model - Dual Pilots for All Airliners - No Flying of Aircraft Solo

The RQAC airline training school - Airline Academy of Australia - has taken over the building adjacent to Archerfield's main terminal originally constructed and used by the Arena pilot training school and recently vacated when the ground lease the buildings were on expired

The AAA along with CASA are formulating new rules to train co-pilots of passenger carrying airliners in a 'non-flying' environment - read this as most if not all the pilot training will be carried out in a simulator - the 'new' licence will not allow the pilot to fly an aircraft - including a Light Aircraft - 'solo'

Randal McFarlane's A-26 Invader Warbird Arrives at Archerfield

The Douglas built (in 1944) A/B-26 Invader previously operating as a water fire-bomber in Canada has arrived at Archerfield much to the relief of the new owner

Randals new acquisition puts him into the top bracket of "owners of warbirds" here in OZ - initially there was a T-28 Trojan - still has a Cessna Birddog and a "C337" twin and owned a T-6/Zero look-a-like a few years back and also a Grumman Avenger ...and then there's the Mk14 Spitfire VH-XIV under a long term rebuild...
