Tassie 2-Seat Home-Built Ultralight Prang Claims Two Lives

An ultralight crash on a private air-strip near Burnie in Tasmania has claimed the lives of the two men onboard - one died at the accident site the other pilot was rushed to the North West Regional Hospital in a critical condition and died a few hours later

 
The 2-seat Raddcar home-built ultralight was taking-off from on a rural property at Heybridge just east of Burnie - the recently serviced machine apparently had an engine failure and stalled - it then hit the ground

Small Home-Built Gyrocopter Accident Injures Pilot - 6 Emergency Vehicles Respond

Media reports have 6 emergency vehicles responding to a call-out at Albion Park's Illawarra Regional Airport south of Wollongong in NSW where a 'mature-age' pilot was injured and taken to hospital after the gyrocopter he was in "got into difficulties" and crashed shortly after take-off

 
Incorrectly called an "ultralight glider" by one media organisation - the non-fixed wing piston-powered machine apparently had an engine failure shortly after take-off with the pilot unable to maintain sufficient forward speed needed to carry out a successful autorotation and landing

QANTAS Fined in USA for Price-Fixing of International Air Cargo Rates

QANTAS has been fined $US61 million ($69.4 million) in a US court after agreeing to plead guilty of price-fixing international air cargo rates over the past six plus years

 
"During that time Qantas was the largest carrier of cargo between the US and Australia and made more than $US600 million ($683.7 million) from its cargo flights along the route"
