Rhys Thomas on Way Home after 13 Weeks Detention in Singapore

APRIL 1  2008
59-year-old West OZ tourist operator Rhys Thomas pleaded guilty yesterday to entering Singapore's airspace in a Cessna floatplane without having a valid certificate of airworthiness for the aircraft and was fined 5,000 Singapore dollars ..about $4K in OZ

Judge Danielle Yeow ordered Thomas to pay the maximum fine and not spend any extra time in jail

The defence apparently put part of the blame back onto the Australian authorities for allegedly giving conflicting advice to Thomas on whether he required a valid certificate of airworthiness for the C208
