Helicopter and Light Aircraft Collide Mid-Air in Remote Part of West OZ

Police are attending to a report that a helicopter and a light aircraft had collided mid-air in WA about 700 kilometres north of Perth

Reports have two people killed and another person seriously injured with one person still missing just north of Gascoyne Junction in the Kennedy Ranges

 
 • UPDATE •  The R44 Helicopter and a Piper fixed-wing aircraft collided while culling feral goats commissioned by WA's Department of Agriculture

"It was confirmed by the pilot of the helicopter that the two occupants of the fixed-wing Piper aircraft were deceased"

Fuselage Wrinkled in Heavy Landing of Qantas Boeing 717 at Darwin

Media reports have a Qantaslink Boeing 717 with 84 passengers on board sustaining extensive structural damage after a heavy landing at Darwin airport on February 7 - passengers were 'shaken' but not injured

 
The initial report from the ATSB apparently listed the damage as "substantial" - Qantas said it could not comment on whether the plane had been written off but said the $35M aircraft was out of action

Attempted Hijack of Commuter Passenger Aircraft in Kiwi-Land

Christchurch Airport was closed to traffic and a female person arrested following an on-board incident with the Air New Zealand flight from Blenheim to Christchurch - one of the 7 passengers on-board apparently tried to take over the aircraft - the pilot was stabbed and there was a threat to blow up the aircraft - "The stabbed pilot was able to land the aircraft successfully with assistance from his co-pilot and rushed to hospital"

 




The 'armed offenders' Police Squad surrounded the Jetstream and the Bomb Squad called in to defuse an apparent bomb in the women's handbag

"I saw a dog go in - the passengers came out in a rush then the woman came out bundled to ground and searched by police and taken away"
