Mid-Air Collision Between Wee-Waa Crop-Sprayers Claims Senior CPL Pilot

FEBRUARY 26  2008
Two Air Tractor AT-502B Turboprops belonging to different crop-dusting companies based at Wee-Waa in central NSW - Crop-Jet Aviation and Cropair - have collided mid-air during a mid-morning spray run

The 'dusters were spraying herbicides on a cotton property's bean crops in northern NSW when they made contact killing a local Wee-Waa professional pilot

Media reports indicate the two aircraft clipped each other as they crossed paths - the 60yo old local pilot died at the scene after his machine caught fire

The other 47yo Cropair pilot escaped from his machine with non-life threatening back and limb injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment

In December 2006 the News Desk reported on a fatal Crop-Jet Aviation accident - for details click HERE
