Airlines and Recreational Flying Feeling the 'Pinch' as Fuel Costs Skyrocket

JUNE 15  2008
As the price of fuel for both passenger jets and light aircraft continue to soar here in OZ and overseas a number of flying projects are taking flight based on electrical energy for propulsion

For example one single-seat flying machine can fly for 1½ hours for only 70 cents - and that's in US cents - impossible you say? ...not by the report the News Desk located in the home-land of light aircraft where there is no suppression on flying machines

The Experimental Aviation Association (USA) has reported on the ElectraFlyer-C - a converted motor glider - that cruises at 70 stalls at 45 and has a top speed of 90 mph with a flight duration of 1½ hours

The motor direct-drives a 45" ground adjustable 2-blade carbon-fibre prop allowing a 500-600 ft per min rate of climb - and battery recharge? - 70 cents!
