Charted Robinson R44 Prangs in Remote Kimberley Area of West OZ

A helicopter pilot and his three passengers have been injured when the machine they were in crashed near the Imintje Aboriginal Community in the remote Kimberley's of West OZ


Police reports indicate the pilot's injuries are serious

 
The Royal Flying Doctor Service did not respond to the emergency with an aircraft as the pilots at both Derby and Port Hedland bases were unavailable

"A doctor on a charity bike ride in the area has been given a police escort to the site"

Caloundra's Pending Airport Closure Defies Trends - Operator Expands

The Caloundra based Curry-Kenny Aviation Group is now Australia's largest privately owned aviation company after the recent purchase of the Slingair Heliwork company

 


"With 36 aircraft operating out of several bases in the East Kimberley and up to 80 additional staff during peak season the Kununurra-based Slingair Heliwork takes the Curry-Kenny Aviation Group to about 60 rotary and fixed wing aircraft and almost 200 personnel"

 
One major issue facing operators at Caloundra is the projected closure of the airport

Rob Rich the Curry Kenny Aviation Group business development manager is reported in the media saying the state government was supposed to have finalised a report in June on the future use of airports in Queensland

“It’s been put on hold, so the operators (at Caloundra) just don’t know what their future will be”

Kiowa X-Military Helicopter Stolen from Bankstown Located at Taree Airport

An influx of light aircraft pilots to Taree airport this week for a championship event appears to be instrumental in locating a stolen helicopter

 


The Manning River Aero Club are hosting the annual Australian Light Aircraft Championships this weekend



The helicopter - an x-military Bell CH-136 Kiowa - had been stolen from Bankstown airport last weekend



Police found that not only had it been shut down correctly but all safety procedures - including the securing of the rotors - had been followed
