 Fatal Crop-Duster Accident on QLD's Darling Downs 


A crop-duster pilot has lost his life after the 375hp 8-cylinder Piper Pawnee Brave he was flying hit the ground and cartwheeled several times before bursting into flames in the paddock north of Warwick

"Police are yet to formally identify the pilot but he is believed to be the owner of Rural Aviation in Toowoomba"

 Beech Super King Air in Wheels-Up Landing at Adelaide Airport 


A chartered Beech Super King-Air was involved in a full scale emergency when the aircraft was forced to land without having the undercarriage fully down and locked

The turbine-powered machine was en route to Kingscote on Kangaroo Island when the pilot discovered the landing-gear problem

The pilot reported the problem approaching Adelaide airport forcing the full scale emergency procedures to be activated

All 11 passengers and crew were able to exit the aircraft without difficulty

 Private Pilots Embarrassed - One in Victoria - One in Queensland 


A 39-year-old female pilot escaped serious injury when the unidentified light aircraft she was flying landed at a private airstrip and ran off the end into a boundary fence

The accident happened near Yea in Victoria's north - "There was minimal damage to the aircraft - she's more in shock than anything"

A 75-year-old male escaped serious injury when his home-built aircraft ended up upside-down at the Southport airstrip

It appears the nose-wheel may have collapsed inverting the 2-seat machine

 Seven Survive Tourist Helicopter Prang in WA's Kimberley Region 


A Bell 407 helicopter with 7 people on board has crashed into the ocean minutes after taking off from the tourist vessel True North

The helicopter had just departed the ship's helipad when it apparently experienced an engine problem and crashed into the ocean at Talbot Bay and sank in about 30m of water

The Broome-based operator of the vessel specialises in small-ship adventures along OZ's northern coastline associated with scenic helicopter flights

Police reported to media that the 6-passenger Bell 407 may have had an engine failure

 Foreign Student Pilot Killed in Liberty XL-2 near Badgerys Creek 


The News Desk has been informed by the ATSB of a fatal light aircraft accident near Badgerys Creek in Western Sydney yesterday that has claimed the life of the foreign student pilot - the only person on board

A witness reported the engine was cutting in and out shortly before it crashed into a paddock off Vicar Park Lane at Luddenham

The aircraft concerned was a two-seat pilot trainer type Liberty Aerospace XL-2 from a Bankstown based flying school

It is the 2nd Indian national in the past month to die in Australia while learning how to fly

 Hempel's Flying School at Archerfield Airport Closed Down 


The News Desk has been informed that Hempels Flying School at Archerfield has closed down after the loss of it's principal Barry in a Yak-52 accident a few weeks ago

Details are still sketchy but all staff have been told by Barry's next-of-kin to lock the buildings and aircraft and leave - apparently the business is now not viable

 Winged Parachutist Attempts English Channel Crossing 


The National Geographic Channel is assisting with the attempt for parachutist Yves Rossy and his strap-on jet powered wing to fly across the channel from France to England

 Power Lines Snare Private Aircraft Operating out of Private Airstrip 


NSW Police have advised that a private aircraft has crashed when trying to land on a private airstrip - the pilot had attempted a go-around but had hit electricity lines near the airstrip

The unidentified aircraft crashed near Dalgety in NSW on Saturday - the pilot was able to walk away from his mangled machine with only minor injuries
