MICROLIGHT ACCIDENT CLAIMS LIFE OF PILOT IN WESTERN VICTORIA

The pilot of an unidentified microlight aircraft has died following a crash near Beulah in the Mallee-Wimmera region of Western Victoria

The microlight had just departed the pilot's private property when it impacted the ground about a kilometre from the airstrip

INCORRECT HAND START AT COOBER PEDY CLAIMS LIGHT AIRCRAFT

The pilot of a high-wing Cessna unable to start the engine by conventional means failed to ensure his aircraft was adequately restrained during a hand-start that went terribly wrong

Hand-swinging the prop at the outback 'Opal' airstrip of Coober Pedy in South OZ was surprisingly successful - the aircraft with no-one on board took-off and crashed

PRANGS INJURE THREE IN NSW - 2 IN SAILPLANE - 1 IN ULTRALIGHT

A 54-year-old instructor and his 58-year-old trainee pilot were both injured yesterday when the sailplane they were in struck a tree on a landing approach to the Tyagarah airstrip in northern NSW

In another incident the pilot of an ultralight Jabiru was able to walk away from his aircraft after an apparent engine failure shortly after take-off from the Warnervale airport on the NSW Central Coast
