ARCHERFIELD'S DC4 DEPARTS THE AIRFIELD

After an exhaustive one and a half years of restoration work the Archerfield based DC4 has taken to the skies for first time since 2001

The new home for the 1945 vintage DC4/C54 will be at the Illawarra Regional Airport about one hour south of Sydney

SURVEY AIRCRAFT PRANG ON THE NULLARBOR IN WEST OZ

The pilot of a survey aircraft sustained minor injuries after the machine crashed in unknown circumstances near Cocklebiddy on the Eyre Highway

The pilot - the only person on board the aircraft - was treated at the scene before being transferred by an RFDS aircraft to Kalgoorlie regional hospital

ILLEGAL DRUG TRADE TAKE TO USING LARGE HEAVY JETS

A recent overseas report has confirmed that the illegal drug trade is now using large commercial jets to transport their illicit cargo of cocaine and then destroying the 'evidence' on completion of the operation - a burnt-out 'wingless' shell of a Boeing 727 was located in the Sahara - the wings were removed prior to torching apparently to sell off as scrap metal

UN officials say the aircraft landed on a makeshift runway in the remote north-eastern area of Mali in West Africa in early November far from the eyes of the law and out of the range of radar with a load of cocaine and other illegal goods from Venezuela in South America

HELICOPTER PRANG IN VICTORIA CLAIMS PILOT'S PRIDE

A very high profile 66-year-old private helicopter pilot has pranged his 4-seat Robbo when trying to take-off at Moorabbin airport after what appears to be a solo training flight

The recently married (to a 26-year-old fitness instructor) deregistered doctor Prof Geoffrey Edelsten was able to walk away from his wrecked machine virtually unscathed
