 Archerfield Aviator - Keith Carmody - Final Departure 


The News Desk has just been advised of the "Final Departure" for one of Archerfield's best known and well liked aviator - Keith Carmody - he was 82

Keith was flying up to age 77 and only two weeks ago was diagnosed with melanoma cancer - the treatment recommended by his doctors was unsuccessful and Keith passed away Friday February 20th

Keith spent many years flying out of Archerfield where he had based his aircraft - the last one was the Beech Baron twin VH-KCN that was purchased new in 1977 and sold in 2003

 Gyro Magni Gyrocopter Kills Pilot in Accident at Home Hill 


The QLD Police have advised that an Italian built Gyro Magni gyrocopter has crashed at Home Hill in North QLD fatally injuring the pilot - the only person on board

The aircraft was located on cattle property swamp land shortly after departing the Home Hill airport

 Fraser Island's Orchid Beach Airstrip Claims another Aircraft - Jabiru 


A 2-seat Caboolture based Jabiru ultralight with 2 persons on board has crashed trying to depart the sand-based Orchid Beach airstrip on Fraser Island

An Airstrip for experienced pilots only!

The QLD designed ultralight was extensively damaged - one person on board received minor injuries and was treated by emergency services personnel

 Microlight Landing Accident on Lockyer Valley Road Injuries Female 


An microlight aircraft with 2 persons on board crash-landed on the Kentville Road in the Lockyer Valley west of Archerfield around 1130hrs

The 40 year-old female pilot sustained fractured legs in the crash - her male passenger was uninjured and called the emergency services people for help
