CAPTAIN OF PASSENGER JET DIES OVER ATLANTIC OCEAN

The captain of a Continental Airlines Boeing 777 with 247 passengers on board has died over the Atlantic Ocean when en-route from Brussels in Europe to Newark in the USA

The 60-year-old Newark-based pilot with more than 32 years of service to the airline is believed to have died of natural causes - a relief pilot travelling on the flight took over control

CHEROKEE-SIX FORCED LANDING NEAR BROOME IN WEST OZ

A single-engine PA-32 Cherokee Six with an unknown number of persons on board has had an emergency landing at a cattle station just south of Broome in West OZ

Apparently the aircraft experienced an engine problem and was forced to land at the Thangoo Station property 28 kilometres south-east of Broome - there were no reported injuries

FOG CREATES CHAOS FOR PASSENGERS ON JETSTAR FLIGHT

Qantas Jetstar A320 Airbus flight JQ603 with 130 passengers on board was forced into a 8-hour 3700km sojourn over southern eastern Australia after fog closed the airport of it's first intended destination

112 passengers were flown from Sydney to overhead Avalon - their intended destination - then to Brisbane to allow 18 persons to leave the aircraft returning to land at Avalon as the fog by this time had dispersed
