MILLION DOLLAR WESTWIND JET DITCHED INTO PACIFIC OCEAN

A Pel-Air Aviation twin-engine Westwind jet on charter for a Careflight medical evacuation from Apia in Samoa to Melbourne with a female patient on board was unable to land on Norfolk Island for fuel and was ditched into the ocean about 2kms from land

Commercial pilot Dominic James - one of Cleo Magazine's most eligible bachelors - decided to ditch the jet into the ocean after making several attempts to land on the fog shrouded runway - all 6 persons on board survived and were rescued by a fishing boat

AGRICULTURAL AIRCRAFT ACCIDENT CLAIMS LIFE OF KIWI PILOT

A Cessna A188B single-seat agricultural aircraft has crashed on a property near Kojonup about 250km southeast of Perth

The 38-year-old x-Kiwi pilot from Manjimup 201km south of Perth did not survive - accident authorities are to investigate

RARE ENGLISH ELECTRIC LIGHTNING SUPERSONIC FIGHTER LOST

The 'cold-war-era' 2-seat English Electric Lightning was preparing to take part in an air-show at Bredasdorp about 200km west of Cape Town and had just taken off - the civilian pilot did not use the ejection seat fitted to the aircraft and died in the crash

The fighter jet - belonging to Cape Town's Thunder City who claim to have the largest fleet of ex-military jets in the world offering civilians supersonic flights - crashed about 10 km from the Overberg Air Force Base in South Africa
