CATTLE PRODUCERS MATRIARCH DIES IN ULTRALIGHT CRASH

The matriarch of a fourth generation of cattle producers - 74-year-old Lady Shirley McCamley - has died as the result of an ultralight accident at the family's Tartrus Station airstrip at Marlborough north-west of Rockhampton in central QLD

The 19-year-old pilot of the unidentified 2-seat ultralight was able to walk away from the accident but sustained back injuries - the Civil Aviation Safety Authority and the Australian Transport Safety Bureau are expected to investigate the crash

VICTA AIRTOURER FORCE LANDS ON TASSIE H'WAY

An early '60's vintage OZ designed and built Victa Airtourer 115 operated by the Aero Club of Southern Tasmania and flown by an RAAF trainee pilot carried out a partly successful forced landing on Hobart's Brooker Hwy after the engine failed - the 18-year-old pilot was uninjured - the Victa was not so lucky loosing a wing and undercarriage bits

SUBMARINE APPROACH AT NIGHT CLAIMS PA-28 AT MOORABBIN

Police have reported on an accident of the Royal Victorian Aero Club's Piper Warrior on what appears to be a 'refresher' night flight with the aircraft landing short on runway 17 at Moorabbin airport at around 2045hrs


The 72-year-old pilot from the Port Phillip bayside suburb of Beaumaris clipped trees during a too-low approach and ended up in tea trees on the Capital Golf Course - he was treated for shock by ambulance crews
