PA-30 TWIN COMANCHE AND TWO PILOTS LOST NEAR PERTH

Perth pilots - 60-year-old Frank Davey and 41-year-old Daniel Berinson - lost their lives when the Piper Comanche twin-engine aircraft they were in crashed about 40 kilometres east of Perth near Sawyer's Valley - the PA-30 light twin went down in what was described by safety authorities as "perfect flying conditions"

NORTHERN RIVERS AERO CLUB'S JABIRU IN FORCED LANDING

A Katherine NT flying vet employee 23-year-old Lauren Porter on a dual cross-country training flight en-route from Cessnock to Lismore with 20-year-old Northern Rivers Aero Club senior flight instructor Geordie Paton ended up in a farmers paddock east of Whiporie in northern NSW after the new Jabiru's engine failed forcing an emergency landing - both pilots were unharmed

58-YEAR-OLD FEMALE PILOT INJURED IN ULTRALIGHT CRASH

A 58-year-old female pilot was airlifted to the Royal Brisbane Hospital with serious injuries after the single-seat home-built 10KT ultralight aircraft she was in impacted the ground at Regency Downs about 75km west of Brisbane - the QLD Ambulance special trauma unit attended the scene as the pilot had severe head injuries and compound fractures and was placed on life-support before being airlifted to hospital

EMERGENCY LANDING FOR LIGHT AIRCRAFT NEAR KILCOY

A pilot and his two young passengers escaped injury when their aircraft landed on a dirt road near Kilcoy during an emergency landing

The unidentified light aircraft apparently clipped two cars parked on Monsildale Road during the forced landing around 1330hrs yesterday

LOST GYROCOPTER PILOT FOUND - AUTOGYRO IN WORLD TRIP

Making news here and in the UK are two rotary-wing enthusiasts - one local FNQ machine crashed near Weipa sparking an expensive two day search for the 'lost' pilot who was eventually picked up by a passing motorist and taken back to Weipa - meanwhile in Northern Island a 'brave' pilot has departed in his autogyro for a record flight attempt around the world

TRAINING FLIGHT MALFUNCTION CLAIMS TWO PILOTS AT DARWIN

A twin-turboprop Embraer 120 operated by Darwin's Airnorth crashed and caught fire on the RAAF's section of the airbase around 1000hrs in what appears to be a pilot training flight - the 30-seat commuter had just rotated when it banked sharply to the left and crashed suggesting a loss of control during a training sequence - the 2 pilots on board did not survive the ensuring inferno
