FLYING FOR FUN 'N PLEASURE SUPPRESSED BY REGULATIONS

USA's AVweb "Letter of the Week" in today's issue highlights the pain a number of light aircraft owners are experiencing when they finally acknowledge that their flying days are drawing to a close or are over - "I had previously owned a Cessna, but rising fuel, insurance, and maintenance fees drove me to sell — at a loss"

Meanwhile the self-regulated home-built aircraft industry remains stable here in OZ along with the production built LSA types

Occurrence Date 15/07/10 #201004866 Accident No - Murgon (ALA) QLD AMERICAN AIRCRAFT CORP AA-5B Private Pleasure/Travel OCTA G - During the landing the wind changed from a cross wind to a tail wind - The aircraft overran the runway and subsequently impacted a fence - The sole occupant was uninjured but the aircraft was seriously damaged
