 ABC NEWS HELICOPTER CRASH NEAR LAKE EYRE CLAIMS 3-LIVES 


Veteran helicopter pilot Gary Ticehurst along with journalist Paul Lockyer and cameraman John Bean have died in a helicopter crash in a remote part of South Australia




It was around 150kms north-west of Marree - "It is not known yet what caused the crash but there have been reports of bad weather in the area"

 CESSNA 210 LANDS SHORT AT KUNUNURRA IN WEST OZ 


A Cessna 210 on what appears to be a charter flight landed short and crashed 800 metres from the runway at Kununurra airport in WA's Kimberley area


"..the pilot and his five passengers have been taken to Kununurra Hospital but no-one appears to have been seriously injured"

 SEARCH FOR 2-PERSONS MISSING IN ULTRALIGHT NEAR EMERALD IN QLD 


An intensive search is under way in Central QLD for a 51-year-old ultralight pilot and his 56-year-old passenger who were reported missing after failing to return to the Emerald airport before last-light yesterday


The search by several rescue aircraft is focussing on an area south-east of Emerald - it's understood the unidentified home-built machine was on a pre-sale "familiarisation flight"

The crash claimed the life of Rob Behrend who was the owner and chief flying instructor of the Warwick based Flying School along with Emerald local - Ian Baldwin




This accident is the second fatality for Warwick based operators within 2-months - back in June a ultralight seaplane crashed into Lake Jindabyne claiming the life of Warwick based aircraft sales operator - Peter Firth

 ANGEL FLIGHT CRASH AT WALLUP IN VICTORIA CLAIMS TWO LIVES 


A 69-year-old man and a 15-year-old girl were killed in a light aircraft crash near the western Victorian town of Wallup last night - the sole survivor - a 43-year-old woman is in a critical condition in a Melbourne hospital




The 4-seat Piper PA-28 Cherokee crashed at about 1830hrs - Emergency crews found the wreckage in a paddock around two hours later - the aircraft is registered to Yarrawonga person who was the pilot - the girl and the woman were from Nhill about 50km west of Wallup

 PILOT SURVIVES EMERGENCY LANDING AT GRAFTON SOUTH IN NSW 


A Cessna C177 Cardinal on base leg of the Grafton South airport had the engine fail forcing the pilot to conduct an immediate emergency landing




The aircraft landed short of the runway and collided with a drainage channel - the pilot was uninjured

 PILOT SURVIVES CRASH LANDING ON PROPERTY NEAR WILCANNIA 


A 56-year-old pilot flying from Hawker in South OZ to Bourke in outback NSW was attempting to land on a property airstrip west of Wilcannia after experiencing an engine problem when the unidentified aircraft stalled on approach and hit a tree


The aircraft was substantially damaged when a wing was torn off - the pilot sustained a broken arm and other injuries but was able to free himself from the wreck - he then walked 2km to the homestead to raise the alarm
