 GOONDIWINDI FLOOD RELIEF WORK DISRUPTED BY ULTRALIGHT 

An ultralight aircraft has crashed into flood waters about 4km east of the QLD-NSW border town of Goondiwindi around noon to-day

A helicopter on emergency flood relief in the area was called to the scene to rescue the occupants - there were no reported injuries

 LIGHT AIRCRAFT EMERGENCY LANDING CENTRAL OZ 

A light aircraft with 4 persons on board had the engine fail around 60kms north of Ayres Rock in central OZ - the pilot was able to carry out a successful forced landing on the salt-pan of Lake Amadeus

Police from the nearby Yulara station responded to the emergency and arranged for helicopters to retrieve all the occupants - there were no reported injuries

 ARCHERFIELD AIRPORT SPARED IN 2011 FLOOD 

Images captured from 'live' TV helicopter news reports show that Archerfield airport has survived the flooding in a far better condition than the 1974 foods



In '74 the flood water encroached up to the edge of the main 10/28 runway complex with water covering most of the airfield

 QLD FLOODS WREAK HAVOC WITH GRANTHAM BASED AIRCRAFT 

Severe flooding from an relentless wet-weather system off the QLD coast has created havoc in the Toowoomba and Gatton/Grantham areas with vehicles, houses and aircraft caught up in the flash-flooding


Back in 2006 several light aircraft were forced to shift from the Gatton College airstrip when it closed - a number of these aircraft ended up at Grantham where a hangar and airstrip was constructed on private property

 HOME-BUILT PITTS CRASH NEAR INGHAM IN FNQ CLAIMS 2-LIVES 

QLD police have reported on a light aircraft crash that has killed two men at Hawkins Creek near Ingham around 8.20 this morning only a few kilometres from the Ingham airfield in FNQ


The aircraft is understood by the News Desk to be an aerobatic 2-seat Pitts Model 12 that ended-up in a field of sugar cane - both of the men were believed to be in their thirties

 STRONG WINDS FLIP GA-8 AIRVAN AT ALDINGA IN SOUTH OZ 

Strong easterly winds generated by a rapidly moving high-pressure system in the Great Australian Bight proved too powerful for this GA-8 Airvan at Aldinga Airfield yesterday flipping the unattended OZ designed and constructed single-engine machine onto its back


The airport located around 40kms south of Adelaide in South OZ is the base for Adelaide Biplanes charter and flying school operations

 ROCKY AIRPORT CLOSED FOR NEXT 3-WEEKS OR MORE 

Rockhampton Airport on the central coast of QLD has become a ghost airport since closing on New Year's Day and is expected to be closed for a further two to three weeks after the Fitzroy river flooded as a result of heavy rain in the area


"Once the water starts to recede... we'll be able to quickly identify whether there's significant problems with the runways; from there we'll have to do strength-testing and reinstate a whole heap of equipment and navigation aids and after that we'll be back in business"
