MEGABUCKS TO REALIGN ARCHERFIELD'S RUNWAYS NOT NEEDED

The Archerfield Airport Chamber of Commerce has released a report slamming the airport operator for wanting to spend unnecessary funds - normally obtained from the airfield's tenants in the form of increased rent and/or aircraft landing fees - in realigning runway lengths and direction that have been in satisfactory use since the war years

It was the OZ Government back in the '70's who changed Archerfield Airport from an "all-over" airfield to a multiple runway system - termed General Aviation Airport Procedures (GAAP) - a system designed in OZ to cater for high aircraft movements at secondary airports - and now the airport operator wants to tamper with the runway lengths and direction
