 QANTAS CEO GROUNDS ENTIRE FLEET OVER INDUSTRIAL DISPUTE 


Qantas CEO Alan Joyce announced at a news conference that he has ordered the grounding of the entire Qantas fleet over the industrial action stance taken by various unions - 108 aircraft will be affected in 22 airports around the world



All staff are to be locked out of their work places as from Monday night and will not be paid



The OZ Government is expected to intervene

After 12 hours of deliberations the Fair Work Australia tribunal found there was significant uncertainty arising from the protected action of the unions and the Qantas employee lockout and fleet grounding that Qantas must reverse plans to lock out its workforce tonight and unions are prevented from taking legally protected industrial action


The tribunal found "it is unlikely that the protected industrial action taken by the three unions ..is threatening to cause significant damage to the tourism and air transport industries .. but the Qantas action threatens to cause significant damage to the tourism and air transport industries"

 AIRCRAFT ENDS UP INVERTED AFTER LANDING AT BRANDON IN FNQ 


Media have reported on an unidentified light aircraft that crash-landed during what appears to be a solo training flight from the Ayr Airport at Brandon in FNQ


"The single-engine aircraft had ended up on its roof - the male pilot was uninjured and had left the airport before emergency paramedics arrived"

 CESSNA 310 TWIN IN EMERGENCY LANDING AT JABIRU IN THE NT 


The NT Police have advised that a Gunbalanya Air operated Cessna 310 that had departed Manmoi for Maningrida experienced problems with the undercarriage and that the 31-year-old pilot Jason Botten had decided to divert to Jabiru as the nose-wheel had failed to retract



The pilot and his two passengers escaped uninjured - the underside of the nose plus the propeller blades of the twin were damaged

 CESSNA 172 EXTENSIVELY DAMAGED IN FORCED LANDING IN WEST OZ 


An early model 'straight-tail' Cessna 172 on what appears to be a private flight in West OZ had the engine stop during the cruise due to fuel exhaustion



The pilot conducted a forced landing onto the Dairy Creek Homestead property however when on approach the aircraft collided with trees and was extensively damaged - the pilot who was the only person on board - was not injured
