CONFLICT ERUPTS OVER SITING OF NEW AIRPORT IN THE WHITSUNDAYS

The News Desk has been following the drama associated with the multi-million dollar private airport under construction at Laguna Resort in the Whitsundays and its close proximity to the nearby Proserpine 'Public' Airport

A conflict arose with the positioning of the new airport and the one already established at Proserpine (which is only around 8-n.miles away with a published instrument approach) and the CASA regulations that state "..siting is not to be within 10nm of an instrument approach of a licensed aerodrome"

The developer has tried various methods to overcome the issue - like buying Proserpine airport and that failed after a court ruling - all actions to date have been unsuccessful
