PARACHUTIST CRITICALLY INJURED ON MAIDEN JUMP AT GATTON

A 25-year-old skydiver on his maiden 'solo' jump from the Ripcord Skydive centre at Gatton landed heavily after his parachute became tangled at about 4,000 feet

"Paramedic Ken Murphy says he suffered suspected fractures and was taken to Ipswich Hospital in a critical condition"

"As far as we know it is his first jump and as he has come down and got closer to the ground instead of braking to make a nice soft landing he has actually pulled his emergency chute which got tangled up in the main chute"
