NEWS MEDIA HAS QANTAS JET IN UNSCHEDULED LANDING DUE LOW FUEL

News media have reported on a Qantas flight from Melbourne that was due to land in Brisbane and how it was forced to divert to Coolangatta due excess holding time - the normal 2-hour 10-min flight turned into a nightmare for the 100 passengers on board who were left stranded after 7-hours of frustration at a dark and empty airport terminal in the middle of the night

Qantas said the weather was not a factor and Airservices air traffic controllers had mentioned "a higher level of demand"

Passenger quote - "At 2.05am, we arrived at Brisbane Domestic Airport and discovered that the airport was pitch black, with lights off, terminal closed, no cabs or Qantas staff in sight"
