R66 HELICOPTER SNAGS POWER-LINE DURING DUSTING OPS IN FNQ

A relatively new R66 turbine-powered helicopter has all but been destroyed after sustaining a wire-strike during agricultural operations over a sugar-cane field near Horseshoe Lagoon south of Townsville

"While conducting aerial agricultural operations, the helicopter struck a wire and subsequently collided with terrain. The helicopter was substantially damaged and the pilot received minor injuries"

AIRSHIP PILOT MICHAEL NERANDZIC IN TOP OZ AWARD FOR BRAVERY

52-year-old airship pilot Michael Nerandzic had ordered his three passengers on board to evacuate when close to the ground after a fire had started in the gondola knowing that the sudden loss of ballast would send the airship shooting back up into the sky

Michael was posthumously awarded the Australian "Star of Courage"
"Mr Nerandzic’s act of courage leads the 39th Australian Bravery Decorations which have been awarded to 67 individuals and 11 groups across the country by Governor-General Sir Peter Cosgrove,"
