FATAL MANDATORY BIENNIAL FLIGHT REVIEW AT MORUYA IN NSW

A mandatory flight check has turned fatal after an OZ built Morgan Sierra ultralight that departed Moruya Airport earlier had some type of emergency and crashed into water off Barlings Beach in southern NSW

"Moruya Aeroclub pilot and chief flying instructor Sheldon Jones said the plane involved departed from Moruya Airport on a local 'check flight' ..which all licensed pilots must regularly undertake"

TWO SERIOUSLY INJURED IN TURBO-CHARGED CESSNA 210 CRASH AT INVERELL

Local Inverell GP Mark Harding and his wife were seriously injured after the Cessna T210N the Doctor was flying failed to gain height after take-off and caught fire shortly after ground impact - the couple's 18-year-old daughter was also on-board and escaped with only minor injuries

The high-powered 1980 model turbo-charged 210 is one of only 19 on the OZ aircraft register and a relatively new import with a commencement date 26 September 2012
Media reports have Archerfield as the intended flight destination

ULTRALIGHT PRECAUTIONARY LANDING AT LOWOOD DUE SMOKE IN COCKPIT

Media have reported on a Zenith CH200 ultralight that carried out a successful precautionary landing into a paddock at Lowood after the pilot noticed that smoke was slowly filling the cockpit

The landing was only 11km from the departure airstrip at Coominya - both men on board were uninjured with the ultralight due to take-off the next day after resolving the battery issue
