SEARCH UNDER WAY FOR MISSING HELICOPTER WITH 2-POB IN FAR NORTH QLD

The Australian Maritime Safety Authority - responsible for aviation related searches - has commenced a search for a 'light helicopter' with 2-persons on board that failed to arrive at Mareeba airport

Quote from media:
"The helicopter left the Archer River Roadhouse in Cape York at 2:00pm (AEST) on Saturday and was due to land in Mareeba at 7:00pm that night"

UPDATE - R-44 PILOT AND PASSENGER FOUND SAFE AND WELL AFTER CRASH

The 39-year-old pilot and his 33-year-old passenger were found safe and well just before 5:00pm (AEST) yesterday at the crash site about 56 kilometres from the Archer River Roadhouse,

"The Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA) launched a search for the two men on board the Robinson R-44 helicopter after it failed to land at the Mareeba airport, west of Cairns on Saturday night."
