PILOT RESCUED AFTER AIRCRAFT CRASHES INTO WETLANDS NEAR SOUTHPORT

A 65-year-old pilot has been rescued after his 2004 kit-built Murphy Moose crashed into wetlands surrounding the Coombabah airfield near Southport after an apparent engine failure during take-off

Emergency rescue teams "...were forced to trek through dense bush land to reach the crash site ...the pilot is “injured but ok” and was able to phone his wife while waiting to be rescued"

AEROBATICS PRACTICE CLAIMS LIFE OF GOOLWA PILOT IN SOUTH OZ

The pilot of an amateur-built Dr-107 aircraft has died after the home-built he was flying crashed during a aerobatics session at Goolwa in South OZ

"...the pilot was taking part in an aerobatics practice session at the time of the crash

...the pilot died at the scene"

SAVANNAH ULTRALIGHT PILOT KILLED IN CRASH NEAR GLADSTONE IN QLD

A 'mature-age' pilot of a Savannah type ultralight was killed after the aircraft he was flying crashed in unknown circumstances onto a property at Wooderson in QLD

"Authorities believe the plane took off from a neighbouring property just a few hundred metres away ...appeared the plane crashed shortly after take-off"

GOVERNMENT APPROVES MILLION DOLLAR GRANT T0 PENINSULA AERO-CLUB

Aviation Minister Gordon Rich-Phillips has handed a million-dollars of public funds to the Peninsula Aero Club where he now stores his F33A Beech Bonanza

"...he had been a member of the Peninsula Aero Club in Tyabb for a year and used the club's hangar to store his F33A ..aircraft is down on private land in a private hangar"

FOUR INJURED IN CHARTER HELICOPTER CRASH AT MOUNT COOK IN FNQ

A Cairns based Bell 206 on a charter flight to Mount Cook around 9km south-east of Cooktown in FNQ has impacted terrain and rolled onto it's side injuring at least four of the six persons on board

"The Bell 206 helicopter was conducting a passenger carrying charter flight with passengers and has collided with terrain on Mt Cook ..there are two persons with serious injuries and two with minor injuries"

MATURE-AGE PILOT INJURED IN ULTRALIGHT CRASH AT KNOCKROW

The 73-year-old pilot of an ultralight has sustained serious injuries after the Drifter based Spectrum Fisher he was flying apparently stalled and crashed into a paddock at Knockrow north of Ballina in northern NSW

"Police from Richmond Local Area Command were told that the ultralight aircraft appeared to stall before crashing to the ground" - Aircraft based on Austflight Drifter series that were 'production' built at Boonah in the 1980's
