The pilot of an ultralight registered Savannah VG escaped injury after the aircraft he was flying landed on the beach in Tasmania and flipped over after the nose-wheel collapsed due to soft sand

The pilot "George Calka, 61, left Sandfly, near Hobart, in his single-engine light plane on Thursday night, headed for St Helens on the east coast ..the Launceston pilot found fog obscuring the (destination) airstrip"

PILOT SERIOUSLY INJURED IN CROP-DUSTER CRASH IN SOUTH-WEST QLD

A professional pilot aged in his 40's was seriously injured after the turbine-powered crop-duster aircraft he was flying struck power-lines and crashed into a paddock near Goondiwindi in south-west QLD

The pilot "was pulled from the wreckage by witnesses ..and airlifted by the RACQ LifeFlightRescue to the Princess Alexander Hospital in Brisbane with major internal and facial injuries"
