A 22-year-old trainee pilot was uninjured after he lost control of the 2-seat aircraft he was flying solo and crashed heavily onto the runway at Merredin airport in West OZ

 Quoting from the Media:
"...It appears the pilot was attempting to land and may have been caught in a cross-wind
...and ended up on the side of the runway"
